How much does an electrician cost?
The average daily cost of an electrician is around £250 to £375, or £30-£50 per hour. How much you actually pay will depend a lot on where you live in the UK, with electricians charging more around London and the South West compared to the North of England, Wales, and Scotland. You're also likely to pay more for an electrician if you choose a larger company rather than a sole trader.
You also need to keep in mind that most electricians will have a minimum charge. So even if the job only takes them 20 minutes, they will still charge for at least an hour or maybe even 2 hours. This is to cover the time they spend traveling and fuel costs.

This may increase if you require an emergency electrician, as they tend to work out of hours and will therefore charge more for their services. Again, this will be dependent on your location.
How do you know if you need a house rewire?
A complete house rewiring will be required if you live in an older property that has not had new wiring fitted in the last 25 to 30 years. The wiring will most likely be outdated, and therefore an update will be necessary to ensure your home's electrics are safe and efficient. If you are renovating your home, you will more than likely need part or all of your property rewired.
