If you want a professional and trusted window and conservatory specialist, there are a few things you can look out for. Check whether your installer is FENSA or CERTASS certified. This means that your tradesperson has fitted your windows following building regulations. You can then feel safe knowing the window contractor will be competent.
You can also check whether a conservatory or window fitter has any NVQ diplomas in fenestration installation or has learned on the job through an apprenticeship.

What is a Casement Window?
A casement window is the most popular window design in the UK. It’s usually hinged from the side or the top and is available in many materials, sizes (single, double etc.) and types.
What is the Difference Between a Conservatory and Orangery?
Orangeries and conservatories are very similar but have one main difference. A conservatory is usually made from glass or polycarbonate, whereas an orangery is built with brick and has large windows and a roof lantern.
How Long Does it Take to Fit a Window?
It all depends on what type of window is being fitted and the size. But typically, it will take one to two hours to fit a standard window. Most window fitters will be able to fit about five per day.
Why is There Condensation on my Window?
There can be a few reasons you have condensation on your windows, but it’s mainly due to extra moisture in the air. You may need to add ventilation into the room or use a dehumidifier.
If you’re experiencing condensation in between the double glazing, this means the window is blown and will need replacing.
How Much is a Velux Window?
The average cost for a Velux window is between £800 to £1000. However, there are so many styles, sizes and materials to choose from; the price can change dramatically.
How Do You Measure for a New Window?
The best way to measure your window is to measure the height from the left side, centre and right side.
Then to measure the width of the window, you need a measurement from the bottom, middle and top of the opening. This will ensure an accurate measurement.
How Big Can a Conservatory Be Without Planning Permission?
You will only need planning permission for a conservatory if:
1. It’s higher than the highest point of your home’s roof
2. If more than 50% of the property grounds are going to be covered
3. If it faces a road from the front or side of the property
If you’re unsure, it is always best to check the building regulations before building.
How Long Does a Conservatory Last?
Modern conservatories can now last between 20 to 25 years.
