    Wall Tiling

I thought whether I should write this review as I wouldn’t want to affect someone’s reputation negatively but I did decide to eventually as I’m disappointed by how I’ve been treated. I initially asked this person to do tiling which he certainly can do well and then I expanded the job and asked him to refit part of the kitchen and I have been disappointed. Wouldn’t trust this person’s measurements for any building work. He replaced my kitchen but made many measurement mistakes and chopped and carved things without asking me if I would want it carried out this way. He cut off the frame around the kitchen door to make the store bought drawer unit fit. Didn’t ask if I would be happy with this solution. I asked him to cut extra shelves for the wall cupboards and he cut shelves which do not fit the cupboards. I asked him to correct them but its even still ill-fitting. Not to mention he quoted me one price and then at the end of the job the price went up two fold. He tried to convince me that the extra costs were justified but he should have been clearer and provided breakdowns of his costs so that I knew what would be an extra cost. If things take longer than it should that would be his responsibility and he shouldn’t try to pass his inexperience costs onto me. I later asked him to replace a new cupboard unit around the bathroom wash hand basin. He again tried adding further costs to his initial quote. It became evident that he will initially quote one price and then would try to find ways to increase his costs. I was disappointed and was reluctant for him to continue doing the work. He agreed to carry out the work for the initial fee but it was a mistake to let him continue. He had again measured incorrectly and the existing wash hand basin wouldn’t fit in the new cupboard unit which we bought together and I asked him to measure so that we can buy the correct cupboard unit to fit the existing wash hand basin. His solution was to just carve up the new unit front to force the basin to fit, again without asking me. I would have expected in this circumstance for him to correct his mistakes out of his own pocket but for the bathroom unit all he offered was that he would replace the unit if I bought a new one. I would definitely not be expecting to pay out of my own pocket for his mistake. Of course, if it was a genuine mistake on his part it would be the morally right thing to do. There were other mistakes too but I’ve only pointed out the main ones. It’s worked out costly for me. Give this guy work with caution. He can tile but work that requires carpentry skills I would be cautious. His costs are not worth the standard of work produced. You’ll be paying high prices for low quality workmanship.

    Wall Tiling

Gurkan is an extremely nice chap who made a very good job of a wall and corner of our tiny bathroom. The tiles were very hard, had to be cut by angle grinder, but he minimised the dust with his hoover. They were also not a perfect match with the existing tiles in the bathroom, a tiny bit narrower, but he managed to compensate and line up the courses nicely. He was also the only contact who quoted what we considered to be a reasonable price for the job, done in one day. Recommended.
