Rated People Acquired by Checkatrade: Your Questions Answered

Rated People announced on the 17^th September 2026 that the brand and website had been acquired by the Checkatrade Group. This followed Rated People Limited entering Creditors’ Voluntary Liquidation on the 16^th September 2026.

Tradespeople accounts on Rated People were immediately closed on the 16^th September 2026. However, Rated People accounts will not be transferring over to Checkatrade.

What Has Happened?

Here’s an overview of what we know:

Rated People entered voluntary liquidation on the 16^th September 2026.
Checkatrade Group purchased some of Rated People’s assets, which included the brand and website, on the 17^th September 2026.
Rated People subscriptions and memberships do not appear to have been purchased by the Checkatrade Group.
All tradespeople accounts were closed on the 16^th September 2026.
Homeowners can continue to post jobs on the Rated People website, but those leads will now be sent to Checkatrade members.
Tradespeople who had Rated People accounts will not get migrated over to Checkatrade. Tradespeople who had a Rated People account will have to create a new account with Checkatrade if they want to continue receiving job leads from homeowners who use the Rated People website.

What This Means if You Were a Member of Rated People

Your Rated People membership has ended

All Rated People memberships were closed before the brand and website changed hands. Nothing will transfer over to Checkatrade.

If you want to keep seeing leads from homeowners who use Rated People, then you’ll have to create an account with Checkatrade.

Your previous lead data on Rated People is no longer available

Leads you already had won’t be shown in your account on the Rated People website or app.

If you were a Rated People member, you may have already received an email with instructions on how to get access to this data. If you haven’t got anything like this and you want to get your Rated People account data, then there is a form linked at the bottom of this page that you can submit to the S&W Group

Your reviews are stuck on Rated People

Rated People accounts aren’t being migrated over to Checkatrade. Any reviews you’ve earned on Rated People will stay where they are. Unfortunately, this means you’ll have to start building up your reputation somewhere else from scratch.

Rated People membership questions should go to the S&W Group

If you have any questions about your previous membership with Rated People, then they have said that you should direct them to the S&W Group (who is managing the liquidation of Rated People Limited). Their email is: ratedpeople@swgroup.com

We currently do not have any details about whether tradespeople who were Rated People members at the time it stopped trading will receive any money back.

Has Rated People closed down?

The Rated People brand and website are still online, but are now controlled by the Checkatrade Group. Homeowners can continue to submit jobs on the platform, but Rated People closed all trade memberships before the brand and website changed hands.

All new jobs submitted by homeowners from the 18^th September 2026 will now go to Checkatrade’s tradespeople instead.

Has Rated People gone into liquidation?

This is a common type of liquidation where the company is insolvent (i.e. can’t pay its debts) and the company’s management chooses to voluntarily stop trading.

Have Rated People gone into administration?

No, Rated People has not gone into administration. Rated People chose to voluntarily liquidate their company on the 16^th September 2026. This means that Rated People has ceased trading and will now wind the company up and dissolve it.

Who owns Rated People now?

The Checkatrade Group now owns the Rated People brand and website. Checkatrade is a trading name of Vetted Limited, which is a subsidiary of Brookfield Corporation (a Canadian asset management firm).

Are Rated People memberships still active?

Can homeowners still post jobs on Rated People?

Yes, homeowners can continue to post jobs on Rated People. However, the tradespeople they’re put into contact with will now be members of Checkatrade. All current Rated People accounts have been closed (as of 16^th September 2026).

What happens if a homeowner posted a job before the 18^th September?

Homeowners who posted a job on Rated People before the 18^th September will have to repost the job if they want to continue using the website. However, they will only be connected with tradespeople with accounts on Checkatrade.
