Rebuild Or Replace Front Garden Wall
I engaged RBB to fit two FD30 fire doors and replace a falling wall with a fence at a property. The total quoted was £1,650, with £800 paid for materials up front. The total experience was extremely poor and I stupidly agreed to pay the deposit for materials up-front, which I will never do again. Work started with the pulling down of the falling wall, after which the team went unresponsive for several days, ignoring messages. They only resumed after I made repeated phone calls — the first call resulted in a promised confirmation text that never came; a second call the following day produced a verbal commitment to attend at a specific time. On the rescheduled day I was told the team would be on site at 09:30. They arrived at 12:30. During the 3-hour wait I was repeatedly told by phone/text that they were on their way and that they were collecting the doors. One of the two doors brought was the wrong size, despite the team having measured the property the day before. One of the team started to fit one door while the other went off again to replace the wrongly sized door. The doors were eventually fitted but the the fit was at best marginal. The team then attempted to fit a door closer. I told them I had previously fitted door closers and offered to show them how the template worked. They told me they knew what they were doing, then drilled the closer on in the wrong position and had to reposition it. As they were about to drill a second set of incorrect holes I told them to leave it and that I would fit the closer myself. One of the guys threatened to walk off the job on three separate occasions during the day, the first of which was on arrival when I expressed disappointment about the wrong-sized door, the last time when I insisted they leave the door closer and get on with the other door as I could fit the closer - I called his bluff and he stayed. I fitted the closer in 5 mins while they'd been trying for 20! Door installation was not finished until 18:30. I decided to end the engagement at that point and take the loss. I paid £800 in total for what I would estimate was approximately max £600 of work and supplies. I would not recommend this trader in any way. I'd recommend running AI research on RBB and Michael Bishop before engaging them — I wish I had as having a chat with Claude about this has been quite enlightening.

Remove Bathroom Plasterboard to Brickwork
Michael was very friendly and helpful. The job completed as I expected. Great job.
Touch Up Paint Bannister and Skirting
Unfortunately, whilst Michael did a good job with the paint work, paint ran from the skirting board on to our new carpet. In his attempt to clean this out, he used an alcohol / solvent based cleaning wipe which has permanently damaged and discoloured the carpet. This will now need to be repaired / replaced at our expense.
