Build Wardrobe Cabinet for Boiler
I would not recommend using Sam Birch / Picturesque Productions based on my experience. Before the work began, Sam visited the property and provided a quotation that was higher than others, but I chose to proceed due to his apparent design experience. His invoice included both carpentry work and micro-cementing, with the project scheduled to be completed within four weeks. On the first day of work, transparency became a concern: he requested a payment structure of 30% upfront and 70% at the end of each week to “motivate” progress. After day one, he also issued a revised invoice that was significantly higher than the original quote, despite materials already having been purchased separately. In hindsight, this was a major warning sign, but I continued with the project. As the work progressed and payments were made as requested, it became clear by week four that even the carpentry had not been completed. The timeline became uncertain, the project fell well behind schedule, and the work remains unfinished to this day. Although substantial payment had already been made and we both acknowledged that the carpentry was effectively overpaid at that stage, Sam refused to continue unless further upfront payment was provided. After a lengthy discussion, he remained for two additional days to work on the carpentry but still failed to complete it. We then agreed he would return to finish the remaining carpentry; however, this did not happen. After leaving the work incomplete for several days, rather than proposing firm return dates to complete the outstanding carpentry, he instead proposed carrying out the micro-cement work for additional payment. I insisted the remaining carpentry be completed first, but this did not occur. After weeks without progress and repeated follow-up, I was eventually told he could only return the following month while taking on other jobs in the meantime. As a result, I had to make alternative arrangements to complete the project and address the financial loss. I made several attempts to resolve the matter amicably, but this was unsuccessful, and the work remains incomplete. For these reasons, I would not recommend this contractor. If you do choose to proceed, I strongly advise ensuring a clear written scope of work, payments made only upon completion, and defined completion milestones.
