I would not recommend using this ground worker based on my experience. He initially failed to turn up to give a quote, explaining later that his son was in hospital. I gave him the benefit of the doubt and he attended two days later, but then changed the quote again the following day. He arranged for sand to be delivered and left in the middle of my two-car driveway, making it unusable, and charged me £313 for this. We then arranged for him to start work two days later between 8–9am. He did not arrive, did not reply to messages, and did not answer calls throughout the day. When I eventually reached him in the evening, he appeared intoxicated, didn’t recognise who I was at first, and gave conflicting reasons for not attending (first a burst pipe, then being stuck on another job). The following day, when he again promised to attend at 9am, his phone was off and there was no contact. Most communication was via email, and three days later I received an email stating his partner had been in a serious car accident and his phone was broken, and that he would come another two days later. Due to repeated no-shows, poor communication, and inconsistent explanations, I would not use this contractor again or recommend him to others.
