K Jary Plumbing and HeatingI would give 0 stars if I could. We hired K. Jary Plumbing & Heating to replace two towel radiators in our bathroom and en-suite, as well as replace a bath plug. We supplied the radiators ourselves after spending considerable time finding the correct size and style. When they arrived, we inspected them thoroughly and confirmed they were in perfect condition. Before agreeing to proceed, I was asked to send a message through MyJobQuote stating I was “not looking to go forward at the moment” so he would not have to pay for the quote or receive a negative mark on the platform. At the time I didn’t think much of it, but in hindsight it should have been a red flag. While considering whether to proceed, I also asked about a recent negative review. Rather than addressing the concerns professionally, he dismissed the reviewer and said he would be in touch with her to sort it out. Despite this, we decided to proceed as one review doesn’t always reflect the full picture. The quoting process felt pushy. He spent a long time trying to source measurements through contacts but couldn’t obtain what we needed, and repeatedly tried to persuade us to choose a different size radiator, despite us being clear from the start. On installation day, he arrived with his son, which had not been communicated beforehand. I have no issue with apprentices or trainees, but this should be made clear in advance. Work began with each of them removing a radiator. At no point was I consulted on the positioning of the first towel rail before it was installed. I only realised it was already on the wall afterwards. I was then asked to confirm placement for the second radiator, which should have happened before any installation began. During the job, when the bath plug was discussed, it was suggested that I go to the shop, pay for it, and collect it myself because their van was low on charge. I declined. Once the installation was complete and they had left, I inspected the work and found issues. When the old radiators were removed, the old wall anchors were left in place and I was told that was my problem. I would have expected these to be removed or at least offered as additional work. We also noticed neither towel rail had been fitted completely straight. More seriously, while investigating the finish, we discovered an issue with the en-suite radiator fixings. The screws had begun to pull through the wall, causing the bracket to slip and damaging the plasterboard behind. This also explained a loud expletive I heard during installation from the en-suite, which was never mentioned to me at the time. At this point I noticed sealant or caulk on one of the new towel radiators. When I wiped it away, I found a large dent and scratch underneath. The radiators had been inspected on delivery and were definitely not damaged beforehand. When I raised this, I was told it had arrived like that, which I do not accept as accurate. I was also advised to tell the supplier it had arrived damaged in order to get a replacement. I did not do this as it was not true. He then asked us to contact the supplier to arrange a replacement. We did contact them, but were told they would not replace it as the damage appeared to be installation-related. After that, he said he would source a replacement himself. We sent him the exact product link, but he later said he couldn’t find it. We resent the link and were told again he would return to sort it, and that we had his word. No further action was taken and communication eventually stopped. The agreed labour cost was £250 plus materials for the bath plug. Because of the damage and lack of resolution, I did not pay the full amount. This led to further discussion where I was given reasons why he needed payment urgently and reassurances that everything would be fixed later, which never happened. The most disappointing part of this experience is not just the damage, but the lack of accountability, poor communication, and failure to resolve issues. Based on my experience, I would not recommend K. Jary Plumbing & Heating and would advise others to proceed with caution.
Quoted a fair price and prompt
