Assemble Shed and Install Solid Base
Shed fitting on a sloped lawn I chose to hire Jacob in good faith because of the way he presented himself to us — as an honest, reliable and trustworthy family man. Sadly, our experience has been very disappointing. Throughout the work, we showed him nothing but kindness, support, gratitude and appreciation. My husband even spent two full days working alongside him, despite being told that the job was only a one-man job. Unfortunately, we were left with a significant amount of rubble and waste that should have been removed as part of the work we had paid for. We have since had to pay £255 for a skip and load the waste ourselves to get the garden cleared. Jacob had specifically told me not to pay him in full until the collection, and I remember telling him that I would pay because I trusted him. Sadly, that trust has been misplaced. There are also some flags on the circular patio that need fixing. I have contacted Jacob about this, but despite messaging him, I have received no response and the issue remains unresolved. What has been most disappointing is the lack of communication and professionalism after the work was completed. I had previously spoken very highly of Jacob to family, friends and others, and would have happily recommended him based on the impression he initially gave us, and the work that he did. Unfortunately, that has completely changed. I believe reviews should reflect people's genuine experiences, and sadly ours has been that we were left with additional work, an unexpected £255 cost for waste removal, outstanding work that still needs attention, and no response when we tried to contact him. Based on our experience, I would not recommend Jacob and would not use his services again.

Jacob went above and beyond fixing our shed, re attached the sides and roof as it had become loose, also managed to free the hinges to close the door properly again, thanks Jacob, would definitely recommend and will be in touch again if any other garden job needs looking at, *********

Garden Mowing and General Tidy Up
The garden maintenance itself was completed satisfactorily on 30th April. However, during the job a stray rock struck the mower and smashed my kitchen window. Jacob verbally acknowledged responsibility on the day and confirmed in writing via text message that he would pay out of pocket, having initially offered to use his public liability insurance before deciding against it to avoid "raising his premiums". My letting agency issued an invoice which Jacob requested before making payment - it was provided, and he subsequently claimed to have paid. When I asked for the account name the payment was sent from so my letting agency could locate the transfer, he stopped responding entirely. I provided my letting agency with the bank details he had given me on the day to pay him, and they confirmed no payment had been received from those details. Despite sending multiple messages over the last few weeks, I received no response. I explicitly warned Jacob that if I did not hear back I would escalate the matter, and leave a review reflecting my experience - he was given every opportunity to resolve this and chose not to respond. The work itself was fine, but the handling of this incident has been unacceptable. I would strongly caution anyone against hiring Jacob as if anything goes wrong, he will not take responsibility.
