    Internal Walls

The remit of the works were: remove paper from ceiling, skim ceiling and walls, install recessed electric fire, install click system wood flooring, mantel shelf, install & remove 1 radiator and skirting board. Two men came to do plastering and brought no protection at all. One of them initially took paper of ceiling by scraping off rather than use steamer. This took the best part of a day and put works behind. Five double sockets and wifi box/tv were taken out and not initially covered. Consequently they all got covered with plaster and much skim ended up inside the socket boxes. The quality of the skim around the coving was a bit slapdash and overall I would not recommend this contractor for plastering works. A corner area which had some trunking near was filled in but not smoothed. No attempt by plasterers to clean up socket plates and casing. Much cleaning up and a good of making good The install of radiator was good. Electric fire was installed in recess, but wiring left out which needed to be connected to supply. No electrician came to finish works which was part of the scope, I had to source my own. Wood floor lay was simple as click-in. The contractor got close to walls as possible and did a good job in this area. The skirting board which was only 9mm thick was installed. Many nails were protruding and should have been nail gunned in better. For me personally this was hard to rectify due to a fractured arm. The wood mantel for over the fire was installed and slopes forward. Not sure how to rectify this. As the above indicates there was lack of quality in many of the works and the contractor has not responded to requests to make good the areas listed above. I did not go for the cheapest option and I made the mistake of paying in full when I should of waited until snagging works were complete. As they say you can tell a good contractor by their finishing. Unfortunately In this regard it was lacking. There were some nice touches from the contractor. When I scratched the newly laid floor he got some floor wax to make good and trimmed some of the door to accommodate new flooring height – neither he had to do.
