S j gardening services.
all garden work undertaken small or large. I also do fencing and cover the north east thanks Steve
Steve, very friendly & polite. Did just what we asked for, at good price. Took all cuttings away, tided garden and left no mess. Even went round to our elderly neighbour to pick-up any cuttings which may have dropped her side
I'll describe the situation in full and delete or ammend this review if anything changes. When Steve rang to take the job he detailed the costs and scope of works verbally. I was quoted for £600 to remove all the Ivy from my garden fence. To which I said that's too expensive for me and instead agreed to pay £250 for a smaller job: Steve would simply trim the top layer of the IVY off and fill their trailer and dispose of the green waste. He told me he would be finished at 2:30pm. Which I assumed would be when they finish disposing of the waste. I was told the cost of the trailer rental for the day was £90. The trailer had their company logo on it... but I thought I'd be nice and pay that amount if it meant getting the Ivy off my fence as there "wasn't much in it for them jobwise". Steve asked me to help him out by paying the £250 in cash upfront. I said that's fine as long as you send an invoice later. No invoice has been sent to this date despite 3 seperate requests. I aksed my housemates to keep an eye on them while they were working as I had to leave for work. They told me they heard no signs of Steve past 10:30. My housemate took a photo of the work that had been done and it looked as though they just cleaned up and left shortly after I paid them. Despite telling me they'd finish around 2pm and had a strimmer capable of taking a big chunk of IVY off the fence in short space of time before I paid them. They didn't call me at any point to tell if the trailer was full or not, I would've been fine with them strimming more off and leaving it with me to dispose of, but they just left apparently. I phoned Steve and asked him if something went wrong. After several missed calls and no replies they told me they were in a bad situation and had to go to Leeds for two weeks and would get back to me after that point. Seems they were still working during that time based on the reviews. Very dissapointed in them.
Great job, done quickly and arrived on time. Polite and cleared all mess up and removed old fence panels.
Completed the job quickly and left the site clean and tidy. Definitely recommend.
Very punctual and at a reasonable price.
Had to remind them as appointment missed Pruning work OK but tidying up left a lot to be desired.
very quick response and efficient working. Nice and friendly man.
The review rating is very poor due to the following. On inspection of the job I was quoted £400 which i accepted. However to be fair to Steve it did turn out to be a harder job than expected. After discussion price went up to £500. Steve's 2 sons turned up on job to help and interfere and between them decided that job could not be done, approximately half way through. They wanted me to pay and get someone else to finish the job. After I refused the sons used some foul language which I found quite intimidating. Steve did berate them. After having words the sons and Steve decided to dump all the debris onto the drive as they do not work for nothing. Conversation continued and Steve said he would stay and finish the jbo at a cost of £800. By this time I felt I was left with no option and paid up. The property and garden were left in a complete and utter mess which myself and my son agreed to clean up as by this time I just wanted them all gone. I now regret succumbing to the sons intimidating conversation and threat to dump all the debris onto the drive and paying the £800. I have accute heart failure and COPD and this resulted in me being ill for 2 days. After calming down and feeling better I am now regretting paying £800, twice what I was quoted and am seriously thinking of taking further action for recompense. Being a pensioner this has really left me short for the coming weeks. After all that I will confirm that Steve was a nice individual and pleasant (when things were going smoothly) however at the end of the day I do not think it was acceptable to quote for a job, start it then end up doubling the price. If Steve had of quoted me £800 in the first conversation I would have thanked him for the estimate and refused.
Job well done. Cut lawn now lovely & neat.
