I was invited to leave a review on my experience with S8 Installations and to be fair, despite wanting nothing more to do with them, I will leave my honest option. It is not my intention to cause harm to anyone’s business and I’m sure what I have to say here will not do that. But it only fair to warn others of what they could be letting themselves in for, should they approach this business, or indeed accept a visit from Colin the owner, to give a quote. I found MyJobQuote app online and was so impressed with it, I placed an advert for a kitchen fitter to replace all doors and worktops in my kitchen which is quite substantial. I have the time recorded between uploading my advert and the first message from Colin. That was remarkably, three minutes from going live. First red flag! Despite him not knowing anything about the location of my home in relation to my storage garage, the job entailed, the size of my kitchen or even meeting with Colin, a quote of £650 was given, for the completed job. Second red flag! I explained that I was waiting for the kitchen unit doors and work tops to be delivered and I would contact him. I then received a request for an update within days. Third red flag! I replied that I was still waiting for items, and I would want three tradesmen to quote. Days later I received another request for information on the progress of the job. Presuming he needed work, I offered a large wall insulation job to act as a fill-in job, which could have been two to three days work. I did not hear back from Colin. To bide me some time from even more update request messages from him, I put some miscellaneous repair jobs Colin’s way, separate from my initial kitchen job. This turned out to be shorter days for a full days’ pay, a lack of paperwork for clarity on material costs and also, if you want to employ someone who likes to talk, you have the right man here! At one point, during this extra work I gave him, I had to personally sweep up powdered tile concrete from the yard, taking a photograph, since he denied this ever happened over the phone. After he had completed an internal floor tile repair job, he watched on as someone else cleared up his mess then bag it up, as he sat in a chair talking. He did not take the waste debris with him, instead, left it to be disposed of. It seems on this occasion, Colin didn’t include cleaning or waste removal in the bill! After I cleaned up the powdered concrete in the yard, I decided to call him on my mobile. He denied leaving any mess, despite me standing next to the small pile of powdered cement mix I had just swept up. I decided to take a picture of the state of the yard and that was after I’d swept it up. It will need to be power-washed now. I realised when speaking with him, I may have taken on a headache for the larger, kitchen job. Despite this, I told him that I would be in touch so he would at least finish the jobs he was paid upfront for, to buy a door. Colin never returned to the job, nor gave a courtesy call, he simply walked away from the job. I get the impression that no one tells Colin. Challenge him on something you are not happy with, he will just walk away from the job, even when it’s not finished. Very frustrating but another tradesman is now carrying out that last job. In all, after my initial advert went live on MyJobQuote, I had five repeated requests from Colin via text, asking has he got the kitchen job. I have screen shot the messages and I now intend to make an official complaint here on the website. I’ve been in business for decades and I’ve never interacted with someone so unprofessional, verbally or practically. My first impressions of MyJob Quote are impressive and I will always use this site moving forward. However, it’s been imposing to have one man persistently pester via text, about a job which I have now accepted a quote for a more realistic £2500 to complete. Quite a difference from Colin’s blind quote, and trust me, professional tradesmen are here on MyJobQuote. Just don’t take the first that comes your way. I could not honestly recommend S8 Installations. There was nothing pleasant throughout the entire experience! We really were treated like a mate was doing a favour for us, as and when he could fit us in. Provided you carry out the tidying up afterwards and remove the waste debris to the local tip. Despite still being charged a full whack by the end the job with all the little add-ons slipped in over time. Not all people are able to physically remove waste debris to the local tip. Many people think that they have to take the first tradesman that comes along. Not the case. When I submitted my job requirements here on the MyJobQuote site, the details of 66 potential tradesmen were sent to me. Just make sure you consult 2-3 before a decision is made. It will save you a real headache over all.

Same as the previous review. Took £550 upfront, messed us about making multiple appointments, excuses about lost phones and lost emails and still has not completed the work. He even charged more than the original quote as the worktop was going to cost extra and not seen any work done. I'll be contacting the police soon if it is not completed or money returned in full with interest.

Please do not use It was my first time using the app He rung me straight away, sounded very professional. They would come at 11am daily. Colin says he is a joiner. He ruined 2 doors and had to pay for new ones Did my kitchen units. Attempted 3x and still didn't get all the units level, in the end we had to use someone else and get Colin to pay Cowboys. Brand new worktops and he cut on an angle, then wouldn't believe me when I said they are not cut straight, I had to get another joiner to show him how far out he was. Still not rectified Cannot cut in a straight line. Finish isn't clean Doesn't reply to messages. 2 months later the glue on my sink has come off, promised to come and fix but hasn't shown up. Doesn't reply to messages. Also became very rude and aggressive when you questioned or commented on his work. I had to have my husband present

Good job on completion

I first contacted this trader on 3rd of July and we agreed to have the flooring replaced, including both parts and labour for £520 Agreed to cost and I paid the whole amount upfront (perhaps foolishly) on 4th of July First scheduled to have the work done on the 5th of July, but they never showed up. Rescheduled to have the work done on the 16th of July, but again, they never showed up. Rescheduled to have the work done a third time on 23rd of July, but still never showed up. At this point I cancelled the service and requested a refund due to unreasonable wait times and multiple missed appointments. The trader agreed to refund in text but did not send anything at this point. I was issued a partial refund of £200 on 29th of July. I have continually contacted the trader via text for the remaining amount of £320 but have not received any response since. On 4th of August I warned I would issue a chargeback after 7 days if they did not refund the money. Have not had any response, I am now in the process of filing a chargeback claim. Have learned my lesson from this - never pay upfront!

In the end the job changed, I also required a cupboard, but it needed to be a special size, width, depth and height. Colin did a good job, my wife changed her mine about the worktops, but I may be ringing Colin in the future.

Gareth and Shaun did an amazing job. Shaun is still an apprentice but what a professional job he did fitting the sink. As for Gareth a real perfectionist. Both take a real pride in their work. My new worktops and splash backs look amazing and it’s looks like a brand new kitchen . Thanks so much to both lads. An extremely happy customer.

Colin fitted my laminate flooring in my bathroom,it turned out to be a bigger job than he was anticipating,but he dealt with it marvellously. He went above and beyond , he's a star and I'd 100% hire him again
