Unfortunately, not a great experience with this tradesman, who I found to be extremely unreliable and unprofessional. He was five days late starting, didn’t once turn up at the agreed time, and was a neverending outpouring of unbelievable excuses for non-attendance. The job dragged on over weeks rather than days, corners were cut, and different materials and processes were used from the ones that we agreed. He kept asking for more money and, even though I had already given him nearly £700 of the contracted £1.000, he became very pushy and accused me of ‘holding him hostage’ because I wouldn’t pay the balance before the work was complete. For context, I am a disabled female in an electric wheelchair, and payment up front is absolutely not what we had agreed. In the end he walked off the job before it was complete, after refusing to leave (at 10.30 at night) before I gave him more money. I thought I was going to have to call the police. He left a lot of mess and a really poor finish. It was a very difficult relationship to negotiate, and I wouldn’t have Michael in my home again. The lack of good reviews speaks for itself. Buckle up for a bumpy ride if you go with Purposeful Decorating!
