This gentleman, Graham Drew, was the first to contact me and I accepted him to do the job. He arrived at the time and with the parts that he thought I might require to complete the job. The parts he bought with him were metric and my toilet is imperial, so he had to go to my local Screwfix to purchase replacements. Once he had started it became obvious that the cistern would have to be removed which involved using a cutter as the bolts holding the cistern in place were rusty and when removed showed that the rubber sealing ring needed replacing, so once again back to Screwfix. When he had completed everything was wiped clean, but Mr Drew was not satisfied and he proved to be correct as the open/stop flow valve was leaking very slightly through the turning screw. Mr Drew went back to Screwfix, for the third and final time, and purchased a replacement , returned to my home and installed it. When I asked what the cost now was, he stuck with his original quote, which considering the extra time and parts involved, I was amazed as he had gone above the call of duty.. I liked his work ethic and attitude as he would not leave my house until he was satisfied with his work. What a great country could be if more people were of this man's calibre!
