Flat Roof Leak and Flashing Repair
⭐️ Very disappointing experience — work did not resolve the leak Unfortunately, our experience with this roofing company was very disappointing, and there were several concerns from the beginning. During the initial visit, we were not told in advance that there would be a call-out charge. After we said we would think about the repair and the quotation, we were then told that we had to pay £80 simply because he had attended the property. We eventually agreed to go ahead with the work rather than pay the £80 without having any repair carried out. The agreed price was £380, and we were told that the repair would come with a 5-year guarantee and that he would return to fix any problems if necessary. We were told that some of the existing guttering would be repaired rather than replaced. Some sections that were apparently no longer usable were removed, and some adhesive was removed and replaced with roofing sealant. There were also several things during the work that made us uncomfortable. He said that some of the panels needed to be moved towards the wall because they were contributing to the problem, and we could hear him using a hammer while doing this. When my husband went upstairs to see what was happening, he was asked to come back downstairs. He also worked on part of the neighbours’ guttering because it was blocked and was dripping onto our roof. We asked him for the photographs he had taken during the inspection, as some of them were clear and showed the areas requiring repair. He initially agreed to send them, but despite contacting him several times afterwards, we never received them. We also asked for a written description of the work through the messages on the platform where we found him. He refused and said that he did not know what website we were referring to, which made the communication rather strange and uncomfortable. After completing the work, he showed us some photographs of the finished work from a distance and told us that the repair was properly completed. He also stated that he normally does not get calls back from customers after carrying out repairs. Unfortunately, it rained on the same day, and the leak was still there. We also noticed another area leaking that had apparently not been leaking for some time before the work was carried out. We contacted him several times, but he did not respond. He also never sent us the photographs he had promised or a proper invoice/receipt for the payment. We paid £380 in cash because he refused to take payment through the bank. Overall, we paid £380 for a repair that did not resolve the problem, despite being told that the work was guaranteed for 5 years. Our main concern is not simply that the leak remains, but that we have been unable to get a response or any follow-up after repeatedly contacting him.
