MGR HOME IMPROVEMENTSHi Derek, This review has really shocked me if im honest with you. I originally quoted you £350 INCLUDING the ceiling paint and the woodwork gloss paint, and including any filler etc i needed, Because the materials would be approx £50 which would leave £300 which equals £150 per day for 2 days. which is a reasonable rate for a decorator. And the rate i work to. You said this was out of your budget. So i asked you what your budget was, to which you replied £250. Now really £100 is quite alot less than what i quoted you for a 2 day job, and quite a drop in price, But given your circumstances and the nice guy i am i said i would help you out, and £250 would be ok, but you would supply the materials. And i would supply the ceiling paint, as i already had some, so this would also save you some money and help you out further. I couldnt be fairer than that really. At NO point did you ask to have a radiator painted, You didnt buy any paint to paint a radiator did you ? so how was anybody going to paint a radiator ? You didnt ask to have the pipework to the radiator painted either, And the reason you didnt buy any radiator paint is because you didnt ask to have a radiator painted. You have assumed this would be done but was never agreed or mentioned. Further more the filling around the door you refer to, This is also something you did NOT ask me to do or mention until the end. The cracking is where the door frame meets the wall, to which i said to you to at the end to get some silicone, as it was leading to the garden and would be better off water proof and that would hide the thin cracking around the door. and maybe some quadrant beading to go in the corners to hide the silicone. My Instructions from you was to paint the ceiling, the walls, the woodwork, and fill 1 wall which had a few large cracks, I completed all of this work that you asked me to do. And it was done to a high standard, If you wanted extra's included, you at least need to mention it to me, Rather than just assuming i will know what you are thinking. I am good at what i do, But unfortunately i dont have the ability to read peoples minds. And finally just to clarify, I helped you out with the money side of things as you well know, And £250 is pretty cheap to have your kitchen painted, whilst also having the tradesman supply all the filler and ceiling paint too, So to expect the tradesman to also paint your radiator and the pipes and fill around the door which didnt need filler, and was all never mentioned is quite an ask to be fair. When your on a budget, unfortunately you cannot have everything done that you want, The more you want done the more its going to come to unfortunately. Budget vs all inclusive do not go together. I have been doing this over 30 years, with 100% positive reviews on all the sites i use, I have never had a complaint , and if somebody has ever asked me anything or questioned anything i would go above and beyond to solve an issue if 1 came up. Because this keeps the customer happy and keeps my reviews positive. You have not mentioned a radiator or pipes to me at any stage, Instead you have just come on and left a bad review through no fault of my own. In future i would suggest you write everything down you want done, and show the tradesman, and both sign it. This way there is no confusion as to what the tradesman does for you, and what you think the tradesman should do. Tradesman do not work on the assumption of what you might like, they follow the instructions you give them , which i did.
