Scope of work: full refurbishment of 5 bedroom house, including installation of new kitchen, shower room, WC, electrics, GCH, LVT flooring throughout and complete re-decoration. Graeme offered a competitive quote for the required work. Not the cheapest but I felt comfortable with him and his team. A deposit was paid upfront and stage payments agreed through to completion. Overall, the work was completed to a good standard and finish. Communication was excellent and Graeme freely offered helpful technical advice and suggestions throughout the project. The budget was slightly exceeded largely due to some changes to the agreed works but I found Graeme and his team to be flexible and accommodating the entire time. The agreed time frame for completion was also slightly exceeded but within an acceptable level given the nature of the works and the additional work items. In summary, Graeme and his team are honest, hard working gentlemen who take pride in their work and treat their customer with the utmost respect. Sadly, these qualities are often missing in the building trade. I have no hesitation in recommending GLA. Given the success and painless experience on this project, they are currently fully refurbishing 2 shower rooms for me and are lined up to fully refurbish a 3 bedroom flat in the coming weeks.

I wanted a complete transformation from bathroom to a fabulous wet room and Graeme (GLA) was the perfect ‘can do’ contractor. Graeme has a wealth of expertise and was able to foresee issues and sort them at my project plan stage. From initial meeting through to completion, Graeme has been highly professional and I would not hesitate to recommend him. So much so, I have just appointed him to replace my roof and install a Victorian skylight and refit my kitchen - that really is the highest recommendation.

Very prompt response to my request for a quote. Graeme contact me and my housekeeper and arranged to do the job in less than 48 hours. He was very good at communicating when he would arrive and did an excellent job of our wall repair. He was also very helpful and polite. I hired Graeme from GLA building to do the work I posted as he answered me straight away! I need receipts and everything when it comes to property issues. Graeme told me that I needed to replace my full toilet extractor, and that the price was 145 pounds for the extractor and 100 pounds labor work! Fair enough I gave him the money so he could go and buy the extractor! Since then I’ve been requesting the paperwork from the extractor and receipt and I’m still waiting on it, as i tried for several times to contact him and he doesn't pick up the phone. As I found the situation very strange I went to the website of Screwfix, the place he told me he bought it from, and the price of the extractor he bought it’s more than half price than he told me it would cost! If that’s the reason why he doesn’t give me the paperwork from the extractor and the receipt I feel cheated and I need the refund from the surplus ASAP! It’s disgusting that we can’t trust anyone anymore and specially using a platform as this one!

GLA Building are a very efficient and accommodating outfit. Although we ended up spending more than the original quote, this was because of some additional work we wanted doing. Graeme at GLA Building was full of useful advice, and always communicated progress to date. We'd use him and his team again.

Graeme did a fantastic job opening our kitchen into the dinning room, refurbishment of the lounge area, inserting a big RSJ steel, plastering and fitting the kitchen. I couldn’t believe how easy they put the big steel in with precision. He was brilliant from start to finish dealing with building control. I was impressed by his project manging skills, material ordering, reliability, honesty and time keeping. He also gave us good advice we didn’t considered which improved the end result. We even bought fixtures and fittings on his trade account to get good discounts. We gave him extra work last minute after we got let down by the kitchen fitter. We further had a change of mind regarding upgrading my current electrics in the kitchen and the floor tiling. The finished project is absolutely stunning as I was worried it wouldn’t get done before Xmas. The work was completed to a very good standard and Graeme followed through on his word on all aspects, even calling me daily to make sure I was happy with all of the work once completed. He and his subcontractors worked late every day, arrived on time and worked full days to make sure the job got finished within good timescale. Their finishing off work, painting & decoration is an exceptional finish just how I wanted it. At the end we got a very competitive quote considering there was loads to do but his team was hard working. Graeme also helped me at the end doning some minor jobs for free. We would highly recommend him for any building work and would hire again if we decide to do any more home improvements.
