Gas Safety Check and Fire Removal
Unfortunately I did not have a good experience. When he turned up he remarked that he thought I would be a man. I feel he did not listen to me as I was speaking, wasn’t interested in explaining things and seemed uninterested in my opinions. Now as it turned out the gas fire I wanted removed turned out to be a back boiler which I didn’t realise so he explained he was unable to do anything with this as didn’t have the certification. That’s fair enough, but as a result didn’t do the gas safety check on the cooker either as told me I may as well get someone else to do it all at the same time. It was late in the evening by this point so I said ok. He charged me £100 despite not carrying out any work and said this was because he had come from a long way. This was his choice to do so and if he felt it was a long way or too far he should not have accepted the job. I felt under pressure to pay and with it being late and dark I felt I had no choice but to give in. After doing so he said ‘you didn’t add the VAT’ which honestly I thought was exceptionally rude and he also had not clarified there was anything extra on top. To have to stand there and send money across to someone after they did no work felt unprofessional. Normally I would expect an invoice after work was completed. I was actually quite upset after this visit but thankfully found someone else who was professional to do the work.

I was contacted almost immediately and he came round the morning after which was great! The only reason I didn’t give 5/5 is because it was a bit expensive, but I don’t haven’t anything else to compare it too. But all in all, he did a good job and I would recommend.
