Garden Wall and Steps Construction
Initial Impression from Dale was good so gave him the job and paid a £1500 deposit. He turned up the day he said he would and that’s about the only positive thing I can say. From then on it was excuses after excuses and no work was done. For about 2 hours that he was here, all he did do was put concrete (that he mixed up on my monoblock path) in a trench that I had already dug. Then the excuses started coming, wasn’t feeling well so took days off, the weather not that great too wet (even though not raining) so didn’t bother showing up, no delivery of materials so couldn’t do anything even though was other things to be getting on with, scaffolding for another job I was getting done was then in the way (it wouldn’t have been if he’d have finished the whole job like he said before the scaffolding was put up) but he could’ve been working on the patio, family issues and finally saying his colleague would come around and make a start but never did either. Had to get another contractor in to complete the job at a greater expense and no refund of the money I gave him. Keeps promising he will pay me back and that’s been from start of June. Again all excuses saying he’ll transfer the money, his colleague will drop it off, be the end of the month, be 18th following month, he’s on holiday so can’t sort it just now. As you can see the company cannot be trusted. I think he was doing other jobs when he was meant to be at mine doing the work we agreed. From my experience I would avoid this company if you can. My Job Quote only introduces trades to us customers, they don’t do any background checks unless they’re for gas or electric so you don’t know who you are hiring or if they are qualified or not. Not something I’d expect from a company introducing trades to people, they should have a much better vetting criteria. Use Trust a Trader if you can at least you know you will be insured if anything bad happens.

I didn’t use DC Construction, but they turned up on time, were pleasant, offered the best price and offered a 10 year guarantee. We just decided to do something slightly different from their suggestion. I’d use again
