Still no idea what happened, but Steve was great with communication at first and arrived on time, but after briefing him he said he needed to go out to get parts, left and never returned, and I haven't heard from him since. This left me in the lurch with installer arriving the next day with no electric connections. I do hope nothing serious has happened to him, but I don't understand how I've had no communication over a week later.
