Concrete Pad for Garden Room Base

This “tradesman” has taken my Job on well aware it was going to be a difficult and quick turn around project due to me needing it competed asap. I informed Nathan that I needed the concrete pad competing before 18th June (first initial contact from nathan 2nd June) I informed him that the job needed to be perfect with no room for error, the pad needs to be level, plumb and square as the installer has given me no tolerance. (5mm max). He reassured me he’s well capable to complete the job and within the time frame I stated. He stated he will be able to do it as I described in my job description. (Type 1 base, 6 inch concrete & rebar) 23 x 17 concrete pad, However upon coming to install the concrete pad he has not even attempted to install the pad as it should have been. He didn’t install any type 1 to compact for a good sub base. I had to do it myself as he was going to concrete of the exposed earth. (Clay, dirt) He also then informed me he’s only doing just under 5 inch of concrete not 6 like originally requested. After confronting him about not putting a good sub base down he stated he never quoted me for it, he only quoted me for (125mm) reinforced floor, in which I assumed this would be with a proper sub based, in which wasn’t the case. Anyone doing concrete pads especially of this size knows your base is the most important part. Due to the job needing completing asap nathan offered to come give me a hand putting the type 1 down (since he didn’t quote me for it I had to do it myself) nathan came out at 6pm and left at 7pm after tamping down the type 1. The day after was the date the concrete was to be poured, 11th June. However it was the wettest day of the year so far in which I informed Nathan it may be worth pushing back the job due to extreme weather conditions, he stated he wants to carry out the job as the rain won’t hurt the concrete? Which everyone knows a lot of rain will affect the concrete. However due to me being at work I wasn’t able to call off the work as he was already there. My dad was supervising him. When I got back from work I was informed by my dad that he also did not put the rebar on legs to pack it off the ground so the rebar is at the bottom of the pad doing nothing so now I’m sat with a concrete slab with no reinforcing to support my garden room. I was then away for the weekend 12th-14th June, when I got back I went out to check the pad. Upon my surprise when putting my level on the concrete it’s 19mm out of level on a 1.8 meter level. So over the 23ft it’ll be 20/25mm+ out. In which I can’t use the pad for anything other than a slide now… my garden room in which was suppose to be installed this Thursday can no longer be installed due to the poor quality provided. I informed Nathan on numerous occasions that this pad must be millimetre perfect as it’s for a garden room with Bifolding doors and the installer doesn’t allow for much tolerance. Upon finding out the pad is not level and has structural cracks I contacted Nathan for advise and how to proceed in which he responded with “we couldn’t and wouldn’t be spending anymore time on your project” leaving me with a concrete mess. He informed me not to message my Garden room people and let them get around it as he won’t be coming back, in which I informed him when they come out and see the pad he will counter charge me for an aborted visit which I’m not willing to pay when i informed Nathan on numerous occasions it needs to be spot on. I have since tried to contact him numerous times in which he ignored me and does not answer my calls, I’ve attempted to call him for 4 days in which he reads my messages (can be seen as it’s WhatsApp) but doesn’t respond. I’m shocked at the quality I’m left with. I have no other option now apart from destroying the base and getting someone else out to do it again, I wouldn’t recommend him all terrible service.

    Install Garden Slabs Paving

BDL Services were professional and also approachable to discuss and changes or tweaks needed. Very flexible, my shed wasn't delivered on time however they were happy to come back at a later date to install it at no extra charge. I'd definitely recommend them.

Lay Concrete Pad for Backyard Shed

Easy, to deal with. Competent. Very happy

    Full Garage to Gym Conversion

The works provided by BDL were completely unacceptable. They were converting our garage for us, they were paid and then supposed to come back to the job to finish and never returned back, since we have found various issues with the build and have had to seek legal advice. We would avoid at all costs.

This is not a true perception of what's happened. And have evidence of two satisfied customers at the end of the job. After taking on extra work involving the painting and flooring and being unable to accommodate completion on the weekend intended to do it. Relationship broke down rapidly and exculated to what is now described as this. Really is a shame as was a completely reasonably priced job completed in the agreed timescale and dates as said. And like most jobs you get the odd snag we were happy to return. But unfortunately like I say things escalated fast and here we are.
    Install Small Front Pathway

I thought the job done on my pathway was excellent and am very pleased with it. However there was a promise made to remove left over rubble from previous work. I was promised this would be removed in 2/3 weeks and is still there 4 weeks later this is why I have not given 5/5 rating. Otherwise I have a new front path am really happy with.
