Nick portrayed himself as an experienced and expert builder and that his prices were very fair. He was critical of other builders’ work and their prices. From the first visit his time keeping was poor. He did explain he would arrive at 11am each day, however, most days the reality was he arrived between 2pm and 3pm. As consequence his work progress seemed very slow and one couldn't help thinking he was just extending the job, as he charged his work by the hour. A small job to lay about 5 square meters of paving tiles that he had four days to do was not complete before I went on holiday was not complete two weeks later when I came back. I returned to a poorly finished job, that I then pointed myself to make look better and my drive was covered in spilt concrete and mortar that was trodden in and looked areal mess. Although I perhaps should have seen the warning signs, I asked Nick to help with some other work I needed doing. Everything he seemed to do he couldn't do very well and he made mistake after mistake. The work finish he delivered was just poor, although he said it was me and that I was too fussy. Honestly I wasn't, I took pictures ready to share, but unfortunately their isn’t the opportunity to do so on this review page. His work was slow and not very good and took double the time as he needed to redo almost all of it. His time management was really poor which I thought may have been putting him under pressure and why things were going wrong for him, but I think the reality was he was generally disorganized and out of his depth. Whilst I can tolerate a lot of things and I also found myself worried about this fellow. In the end I think was taken in. His price included a lot time when he wasn't their which I assume he thought he could get way with because I was at work, but everything was on video camera. When challenged he put all his extra time to collecting materials. Again, the work undertaken didn't need a lot of materials and his disorganization made the amount of time needed much more than it should have been. Anyway, we agreed a final price and I thought the work had been finished as best as he could and was glad the experience was over. I promptly settled his fee, leaving just the drive to be jet washed which he said he would do and I thought this was the end. The next day I walked on the flags he'd taken around five weeks to complete and they were lifting when supposedly bedded in mortar. I messaged him asking him if he could come and repair, but I still haven't had a reply several days later. Even now, the story isn't finished. It was bin collection day and I came to take my bin out, I couldn't move it, he'd completely filled it with concrete and mortar which I have had to empty and dispose of the mortar myself. Still the saga is not finished, it had been raining for a few days and so I couldn't really appreciate what he'd done to mine and my neighbours drive. He'd actually used a drill to remove his spilt concrete and defaced and marked many of the paving bricks to leave mine and my neighbours drives in a really poor state. I don’t think this can easily be put right and may cost as much as the work he did to do so or more. Folks may be believing, but I took pictures I was hoping to share. This is a really poor workman and the way he has left things damaged and leaving his waste has led me to conclude he is not trustworthy. I'm suggesting folks consider someone else and not to be ‘taken in, by all his talk as I was. He talked a lot, but couldn’t deliver!
