I’ll be honest, when we embarked on a complete utility renovation, I was nervous. You hear stories. Hidden problems. Spiralling costs. Delays. Excuses. I went into this expecting the worst, which is probably what most people feel when hiring a builder for a major job. Sammy Ascot didnt meet my expectations, he shattered every reservation I had. Sammy completely gutted our utility room, replacing everything. Were talking ripped out all the old units, professionally treated dry rot, carried out repairs, retiled the walls, and then installed brand-new utility units, sink, washing machine, and tumble dryer. This was a comprehensive overhaul, not a quick fix. From day one, Sammy was completely upfront about every aspect of the work. He didnt hide potential issues or inflate costs. His communication was clear and professional. No surprises, no hidden fees, no sudden problems that conveniently appeared. Here's what really set Sammy apart as some of the work turned out to be easier than he initially anticipated, he actually reduced what he charged us. I have never experienced this before. Not once. In my experience, builders find reasons to add costs, not reduce them. Sammy did the opposite. He charged fairly for the actual complexity of the job, not maximally for what he could extract. Beyond the technical skills, Sammy was simply a nice person to have around. He was friendly, respectful of our home, and easy to work with. I suspect Sammy doesnt have many reviews because he would never ask for them. He’s too modest, focused on the work itself rather than building a profile. Which, honestly, is exactly the kind of person you want doing work in your home. If you’re feeling anxious about hiring someone for a major renovation, I understand. But you can hire Sammy with confidence. He’s honest, he’s skilled, and he genuinely cares about doing right by his customers. Couldnt recommend him more highly.
