DID THAT REALLY JUST HAPPEN? I posted a job on myjobquote to fix a loose tile. Water was pouring into the cavity wall resulting in damp and a great deal of distress and anxiety. The first two roofers gave standard phone quotes, but the third (David from TRUSS'T ROOFING SERVICES) asked if he could come out and see my problem in person. I was surprised. I can't begin to express how grateful I was to have a professional show genuine interest, especially after weeks of failed appointments and empty promises from other roofers. When David arrived he politely introduced himself and his business partner (Mark) and we talked casually for several minutes. I'm quite old fashioned and still look at body language and eye contact for signs of engagement and trustworthiness. They were both so friendly and open that they passed all my checks with flying colours. Within minutes of Mark climbing the ladder to assess the job he shouted down that the slate had simply slipped out and was still attached. After a brief pause he announced he had popped it back into place. And that was that. Weeks of devastating turmoil ended with the push of a finger! That to me was astonishing, but nothing compared to what came next. I asked Mark how much the bill would be and he said; "Nothing, I was up there anyway and there was nothing else to do". I was completely shocked. These two strangers had solved my waking nightmare for absolutely no personal gain… nothing! I thanked them for sacrificing their time and showing me kindness. They left and for the rest of the day I had one recurring thought; Did that really just happen? You see, over the years I’ve had so many sour encounters with unscrupulous money-grabbing tradesmen, that I completely expect the worst when it came to settling the bill. But for the first time ever, that didn’t happen, it was the total opposite. My mind had just been officially blown! So refreshing was my experience with David and Mark, It’s as if they'd stepped out of the 1950's complete with bygone values & ideals. My faith in tradespeople has been totally restored thanks to their decency and integrity, so much so, I felt compelled to write this review as proof that the old fashioned concept of an honest days work for an honest days pay is still very much alive.
