Hughes Heritage | Specialist Lime Plastering & Heritage Renovations
About Us
Welcome to Hughes Heritage. Based in Cheltenham and working across the Cotswolds and Gloucestershire, we are specialist contractors dedicated to the sympathetic restoration, repair, and renovation of period properties and listed buildings.
Older solid-wall properties were originally built to breathe. When modern building practices—such as waterproof tanking, gypsum plaster, and dense sand-and-cement renders—are applied to these buildings, they trap atmospheric and ground moisture. This trapped moisture eventually blows the plaster, degrades the masonry, and causes persistent internal damp issues.
At Hughes Heritage, we specialize in removing these damaging modern materials and replacing them with traditional, highly breathable solutions that allow your home to manage moisture naturally.
Our Core Services
Traditional Lime Plastering: Internal plastering to resolve damp issues and restore traditional heritage aesthetics.
Lime Rendering: Application of traditional and modern insulating lime render systems (such as Cornerstone) to protect your exterior masonry and improve thermal efficiency.
Lime Pointing: Traditional lime pointing for brick and stone walls, as well as specialist chimney repointing.
Listed Building Works: Historically accurate repairs executed to the strict standards required by local Conservation Officers.
Damp Remediation: Permanent, breathable solutions for historic properties suffering from trapped moisture.
Sympathetic Extensions & Renovations: Adapting older properties while meticulously respecting their original historic fabric.
Specialist Decorating: Application of highly breathable mineral silicate and clay paints (including Keim and Earthborn) to ensure your lime walls continue to breathe.
Why Choose Hughes Heritage?
