He tried to change isolator valve, did not check and water poured though ceiling below. He placed a bucket of cement directly onto new carpet and it leaked he then carried out through a room with new laminate flooring leaving drops. There was alternative access. When I told him he said I needed to clean it up straight away. He applied weed killer, and before he applied it I asked him if he had checked the weather forecast, he had not and it rained 15 minutes later. He did work hard most of the time, and did what I asked of him the first week. The problems arose during his last visit.
Greenvale MaintenanceIt’s always disappointing to receive a poor review especially when I have nothing but 5 star ratings to date. I appreciate the opportunity to respond & add some clarity/context here. I did not replace isolation valves - I was asked to replace bath taps, in a rush so that another tradesperson could do their work on removing silicone. I took the taps off & continued with the other jobs I had been ask to do urgently. Unfortunately the existing isolation valves in place failed causing the leak. As soon as I was made aware of this I returned the taps & stopped the leak. I advised the client that until the water was isolated further along on the system I was not happy to replace the taps. They were unable to identify a satisfactory shut off point or guarantee that the water was indeed isolated so I declined to carry this work out any further unless they took liability. Nothing more was said to me about this. I did carry a 1/2 bucket of mortar through one of the rooms as I was in the process of securing the ‘alternative accesses’ lintel in place which was balancing on timbers & loose at the time and insecure & unsafe to use. I put the bucket down briefly to open the door. Unbeknown to me the bucket (supplied by the client) had a small hole & was leaking a minimal amount of mortar moisture. As soon as I was told I offered to clear it up, the client said she would do it. I followed up once I had secured the lintel & saw no evidence of the marks so assumed she had indeed cleaned it up. Nothing more was said! Weedkiller - the week I worked on site was a few weeks back when we had hot sunny days intermingled with the occasional downpour. I checked & at the time I applied the weedkiller (no more than 1/4 ltr in total) it was sunny & dry. The weedkiller was working immediately which I made a point of saying to the client as I was impressed by its effectiveness. Unfortunately it did rain briefly after about 20 mins but this did not effect the killer as the weeds continued to die! As for working hard ‘most of the time!’ - with the exception of a few drinks of liquid due to the heat & a 20 min lunch break I did not stop! In fact was being pulled from one job to the other across the estate! Not given chance to finish what I was working on! In addition I started early most days & stayed later on at least one occasion to help try sort out the washing machines & dishwashers that ‘weren’t working’ The entire 2nd week there seemed to be no issues at all, in fact I was asked by the client to be present when a roofer was due to call! To act as moral support! Despite her having a ‘site manager’ & her daughter around most days! The client also commented on how ‘handy or versatile’ I was being able to cover a range of multi skills for her over that & the previous week working there. It was only in the last 15 mins on the Friday when the client asked if I was ‘back next week’ & I informed her that she had only confirmed the booking for that week & unfortunately that I was unable to attend due to an already full diary for the next two weeks that her attitude changed. Context is key!!

Replace Damaged Ceramic Kitchen Sink
John communicated well, did a fantastic job of a tricky kitchen sink replacement. Tested all plumbing was fine and left site clean and tidy. Very pleased, I would use Greenvale again
