Unfortunately, our experience was very disappointing overall. Communication was poor from the outset. After Ben accepted the job, I repeatedly had to chase him just to get an attendance date, and this continued throughout the job with visits being rearranged and us having to chase for updates. We also had issues with the work itself. We had asked for a replacement Brita filter system, but the new unit was installed in a different position under the sink from the previous one. This left us with loose/messy pipework that could easily be knocked and meant we could no longer properly use the shelving/storage space under the sink. We then discovered multiple leaks following the installation, requiring a further visit to rectify them. There were also significant problems with the thermostat/boiler work. This was part of the work Ben had accepted, and the boiler and thermostat had been discussed beforehand. It subsequently became apparent that Ben was unable to complete this element himself and needed to arrange a Gas Safe engineer. Unfortunately, this led to yet more poor communication, rearranged/missed attendances and considerable messing around between Ben and the engineer. We repeatedly had to organise our working days around appointments and chase to find out what was happening. What should have been a relatively straightforward job ended up taking nearly seven weeks from initially posting it on Checkatrade to everything finally being completed. To top things off, once the work was eventually finished, an additional £30 charge for a part was proposed despite that cost never having been discussed with or agreed by us beforehand. To Ben’s credit, when I challenged this and explained why I didn’t think it was reasonable, he accepted my position without argument and removed the additional charge. Ben was polite and pleasant throughout, and everything has now finally been completed and paid for. However, the repeated chasing, poor communication, rearranged visits, problems with the installation, leaks and difficulties getting all of the originally agreed work completed made the whole experience unnecessarily drawn-out and frustrating. Unfortunately, based on our experience, I wouldn’t use the company again or recommend them.
