Repointing
Eager and pleasant enough. They came a little late the first day and then left immediately. They returned at 3pm and worked 'til late. The next day they returned and worked 'til well after dark and asked to be paid. I paid unable to see that the work was appalling in the dark. It is a real mess with mortar all over the brick in lumps, wobbly lines and unevenly filled joints and lumps of mortar just pressed into joints at spots. It appears that rather than rake out joints they just "painted" a little mortar over some of them. I had to use an acid wash to clean the bricks and the new mortar just disappeared in some areas. They even had the cheek to rake out joints but leave them empty where it was difficult to refill them and they couldn't be easily seen. Over all about a third of the job was not done and the rest was done very poorly. I suspect they even used the wrong mortar - hope the the house isn't damaged further before I can get it redone. They also managed to cover the driveway in mortar which could only be removed with a power washer- it took two days to clean up the drive. The front of the house will have to be completely redone and may not be repairable. I have given them the opportunity to return but many promises have been made and all have been ignored. I would recommend avoiding. I am happy to supply photos on request.
