Excellent job completed to my satisfaction. I would recommend Liam who supplied and fitted my dishwasher and his father who serviced my gas boiler.

I had various jobs [including electrical jobs] that needed doing at my newly acquired home. I found an electrician online through myjobquote.co.uk & an arrangement was made for him to visit on 22/7/22 so that he could give me a quotation. His visit left much to be desired. 1. There was no mention of a call out fee [of more than £100] beforehand – note, my job post estimated a cost of “up to £100” so his telling me this AFTER he had entered my home shows his whole attitude to the job was to fleece me. 2. He arrived hours before the agreed time of 11:30am [this was inconvenient because I was having smart meters installed by British Gas from 8am] but he returned later. 3. Items paid for [10 halogen bulbs] were not delivered, never mind fitted. He did not fit them because the light fittings did not work or were broken. Before he got the bulbs I had explained that I did not know if the fittings worked because I am not an electrician, because there were no bulbs in them & because I did not know what sort of bulb was needed. That is why I was employing him to do the job. 4. The work that was carried out appears to have been done well including the supply & fitting of 10 LED spot lamps. 5. Having recently moved into my house it was not tidy [there were many packing boxes full of belongings about the place] but he made little effort to clear up after himself. 6. He wanted payment made to another person’s personal bank account in cash or by bank transfer & did not provide an invoice. When asked for one he said one would be provided by email afterwards. Given it was pay or else, I paid. No invoice has yet been provided. 7. I think his name was Liam McCarthy & the business was called “AA electrical & plumbing”. He came with an assistant whose name I cannot remember. The mobile telephone number I have for him is 074-45 44 01 83 and the email address I have for him is liammccarthy339@gmail.com. He is not entitled to take advantage of a customer regardless of whether they are new or vulnerable. He may be a competent electrician but a consumer contract, written or otherwise, does not authorise demanding money with menaces [see point numbered 1 above]. His intimidating manner, the above matters & the expensive cost worried me both for my own safety and for that of his future customers. I checked the price of the kind of spotlight he fitted [at Screwfix, a well known supplier] and, even for all 10, the cost came to only 20% of what he made me pay. Even paying for their supply & fitting will only add a bit because there were already holes in which to place them. I complained about him to myjobquote.co.uk not least because he frightened me. It investigated the matter and found in my favour, below.

the job itself was done well, lots of muck n dust but thats to be expected when drilling through 3ft of solid stone, only critisism is the fact that he said he would email the guarentee and invoice, im still waiting, have text asking for it however no reply and not invoice or guarentee of work!!!

Totally unprofessional, 5 small jobs agreed to be done, none completed, what was done is not near any acceptable standard, went to get some fittings, returned only to collect tools and leave without any notice or explanation, left with a complete mess and unsafe situation, Paid more than 50% for materials and advance on labour, refusing to return calls, text or reply to e-mail. Home left damaged, unfinished and they have my money, Liam McCarthy is dishonest and took the money without actually fixing anything. not to be trusted and under any circumstances, in my opinion.

Came as soon as possible, checked out the problem, had to go off and get the new parts back in no time and completed the job

It took much longer than it should have and I'm still waiting for a receipt.
